Building Materials

In order to provide a comprehensive range for the contactor, landscape gardener, builder or DIY enthusiast we stock a range of Building Materials at our Smallfield depot. These products are only available from stock palletised or in Bulk Bags as we bring them into our depot loose and bag them immediately to ensure that they stay clean- at least as clean as an aggregate can be! Please note that we are also able to arrange loose Tipper Loads of many of these products, call us for more details.

DOT Limestone Type 1

This is a mix of limestone containing solids and fines from 40mm to dust. When compacted it forms a solid base for roads and buildings. Type 1 is designed to ensure that there are no voids in the sub-base material once compacted. This product is the only material permitted for major roads hence its name (Department of Transport.) If a surface is to go under vehicles (e.g a driveway) a sub-base such as Type 1 is necessary. A sub-base can be likened to an underlay beneath a carpet, it helps to spread loads and prevents settlement.

Limestone Scalpings

Limestone Scalpings are a medium quality fill or sub-base material. They can be used in the construction of driveways, paths or other light applications where Type 1 is uneconomical. If a surface is to go under vehicles (e.g a driveway) a sub-base such as Limestone Scalpings is necessary. A sub-base can be likened to an underlay beneath a carpet, it helps to spread loads and prevents settlement. Limestone Scalpings are available in 1 tonne bulk bags which are both economical and convenient.

General Building Sand

This is a most economically priced sand which has many applications for building, under-slab and general concreting works.

20mm All In Ballast

This is a good land based ballast (sand and gravel mix) suitable for concrete work and foam work.

Slip Save

This product is a mix of sharp sand and rock salt. When applied to icy pathways it's composition ensures that you are left with a safe and gritty surface once the snow has melted.
